Well i am a trained Ford Auto Technician so i am an ideal person to comment on Britains Favourite.

If my old bosses are reading this then i am a dead man,i will start with the smallest and work my way up.
The Ford Ka(and yes everybody says it differently)this has avante garde styling(i read this in a magazine),nice little car with the 1.3 single ohc engine(yes you can here it coming from 200yds)and the new spangled engine(yes it is older than me)powered this liitle car,inside it was nicely layed out if not cramped with no 5 door version,it has excellent road handling(prone to rust)
my sister had a 3 year old fiesta which i mot'd and it failed miserably on rust on both inner and outer sills on both sides of the car,not uncommon also prone to wishbone bushes wearing out(best replace the whole arm).(1.25 zetec best)
other problems are valve stem seals on early zetec engines replaced on later editions,from 2001 duratec engines 1.8/2.0 prone to failure,more mondeos funny enough,new tdci engine very lively(has anybody been behind one or is it just me,they smoke like mad when they boot it,it is like the pump timing is advanced.
2.0 petrol engine on the Galaxy very efficient(not),try the 1.9 diesel ,co-build with VAG so build quality high.
focus the pick of the bunch,overall a good second hand buy,the new Mondeo will depreciate so fast it will make your head spin!!
